Local Area Information

Kintyre is a beautiful and unspoilt part of west coast Scotland and is accessible by road (a stunning drive from Glasgow) or by ferry or plane.

The area is popular with hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, whisky & gin lovers, surfers, beachcombers and cyclists. With three golf courses within just a few miles (including the famous Machrihanish Golf Club), it's also a golfers haven.

Just across to the west of the Kintyre peninsula is the beautiful island of Gigha and the whisky-famed Isle of Islay. To the east, the glorious Isle of Arran. Regular ferry services operate from Kintyre to these islands for both cars and foot passengers.

Campbeltown itself (known locally as the "wee toon") hosts an array of shops: fresh local produce from the butchers and greengrocers plus specialist chocolate and sweet shops as well as hardware stores and a post office.

Farmers Market’s frequent Campbeltown – our caretakers happily inform guests when the market is in town.

There is a Tesco Extra, Co-op, Factory Shop and Boots in the town centre.

Cinema: 'Campbeltown Picture House' is reportedly one of the oldest serving cinema's in all the United Kingdom.

Swimming Pool, Library and Gymnasium: Google "Campbeltown Aqualibrium" - it houses all three!

Campbeltown also has its own Tourist Information Office, right by the harbour.
